- Congratulations to the following investigators who have received notification of intent to award notices from the VA to fund their projects in 2026! We are proud of these investigators and the work they do to help Veterans who are homelessness-experienced!
- Michael Hsu, MD. VA RRDT CDA-1, “Adapting Contingency Management for Stimulant Use Disorder for homeless-experienced Veterans in Permanent Supportive Housing.” This training grant will adapt contingency management for stimulant use disorder for the setting and context of project-based VA permanent supportive housing, while providing the PI with training in implementation science and the integration of quantitative and qualitative methods. 2026-2028
- Taylor Harris, PhD. VA HSR CDA-2, “Implementing an Evidence-Based Intervention for Tobacco Use with Homeless-Experienced Veterans.” This training grant will adapt and test contingency management for tobacco use disorder for the setting and context of VA permanent supportive housing, while providing the PI with advanced training in implementation science. 2026-2031
- Melissa Chinchilla, PhD. VA HSR CDA-2, “Addressing Housing and Social Needs among Homeless-Experienced Veterans through Health Systems Interventions.” This training grant will develop and test a peer navigator model for homeless-experienced Veterans who are high utilizers of the Emergency Department and disengaged from primary care, while providing the PI with advanced training in implementation science. 2026-2031
- Michael Green, PhD and Felice Reddy, PhD. VA RRDT Merit Clinical Trial, "An innovative combined psychosocial intervention to improve productive community integration in homeless-experienced Veterans"

- Congratulations to Pooja Patel, PhD, on receiving a Stephen R. Mallory Schizophrenia Research Award for her project titled, "Investigating an EEG Biomarker of Brain Flexibility in Older Adults with Schizophrenia." People with schizophrenia are at greatly increased odds for becoming homeless and have poor community functioning. This work aims to understand the brain mechanisms that are affected by the disease in order to treat people with schizophrenia and improve their daily lives. Congratulations!
- We are thrilled to announce that our Center was RENEWED in June 2023 by VA Rehabilitation R&D and will be funded through 2030!
